Get to know your prospective student

This site is intended to support the application of Daniel Kopenetz for the Part-Time MBA Program at Mannheim Business School. Find out who I am and why I want to join the program in 2016.

About me

In 2010 I finished my studies in computer science with my diploma thesis Information Visualization in Business Intelligence written in cooperation with a BI-consulting firm. After my graduation I stayed with this company as a consultant with projects in Germany and Austria. In search of development perspectives I moved to Heidelberg where I worked in the development of one of the world's most advanced medical information systems, before I eventually got into Daimler's CAReer – The Top Talent Program. After project assignments in Germany, China and California I am now working in technical after sales as a development engineer for telematics services.

Computer Scientist

Earned my CS diploma at Universität Oldenburg and University of Wyoming.

Consultant

Two years experience in business intelligence consulting.

Software Developer

Lead web and database developer and research associate.

Automotive Engineer

Alumnus of CAReer program and telematics development engineer.

But it is not the job that makes the person. There are other, more private roles that define who I am. As a single child with only my mother left since I was little, friends became important like family to me. When I am not spending time with them I try to stay fit and travel as much as possible. A passion of mine that has been painfully neglected in recent years is my passion for motorbikes. I hope to revive it this year with trips to Mannheim Business School.

Friend

Thankful for having dear and true friends in my life to spend time with.

Sportsman

Former Handball player, now training for my first triathlon.

Traveller

Travelled every continent, swam in every ocean. But there's so much still to see.

Ducatisto

Love to ride motorbikes – especially my Ducati 749.

What drives me?

The automotive industry is facing disruptive changes due to the digital transformation. New business models and a new relationship with software and services will be decisive factors for the established companies to persist.

I consider myself a software engineer, a developer that also acquired the ability to take over responsibility for projects and lead them. But I don't want to stop there. The Mannheim Part-Time MBA will foster a thorough understanding of business itself. Which will enable me to not only understand and implement the technologies, but to evaluate and shape strategic decisions and business models.

What others are saying

Compiling an application package requires the applicant to dig deep and question his/her motivation thoroughly. Since I have been planning on pursuing an MBA for quite a while now, I wanted to know not only what my story was when I told it, but also what others were thinking. So I reached out to my current department head and two former colleagues/supervisors to get their opinion on the matter.

I very much appreciate that Daniel wants to develop in that direction.

– Dr. Roya Ulrich (Daimler AG)

I have known him as a very intelligent, open-minded, eloquent and dedicated person.

– Adrian Halupczok, MBA (Accenture GmbH)

In my opinion, a business education will excellently complement his profile, therefore I can only support his application.

– Dipl.-Med.-Inf. Michael Metzner (Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg)
